CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park hosted the Southeastern Regional American Marksman event. American Marksman is an amateur shooting event, taking ‘average joes’ from local, to regional and then a national competitive stage. Competitors from Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee traveled to Talladega for the two day event on 22-23 July. 150 competitors fired in 5 different courses that included a .22 rifle, .22 pistol, .223 rifle and two separate 9 mm stages. All competitors qualified at a local event. The top winner in each category (men’s open, women’s open, military and junior) will advance to the national match and a chance to win $50,000. Competitors fired at the Talladega Marksmanship Park on range 2 (the 100 yard rifle range) and range 5 (the 15 action pistol bays).
